The museum’s collections comprise quite exceptional wooden sculptures in Wallonia. They range from the 11th century (Evegnée Madonna, one of the oldest wooden sculptures in the country) to the 19th century. The same applies to the paintings from the 15th and 16th centuries as well as to a few pieces of furniture. Several types of wood, several types of wood treatment, several forms of mounts can be observed. This activity shows that wood can be put not only to practical uses, but also as a support for images and by extension, a real message.
