Descriptif de l'activité
:
This is a guided stroll of about 5 km through the rich nature of the Gheer and the Hutte, in Ploegsteert. Strollers will discover a historical aspect, i.e. the strategic position of Ploegsteert at the heart of World War I. On the human level, this walk awakens a sense of freedom and peace that the visit to the English Memorial and cemeteries must suggest.

A treasure hunt on wood and World War I is offered to schools. The students take an active part in learning to read an IGN map, with the route to follow, searching the signs and by answering multiple-choice questions. For more information, contact the Tourist Office (056/555600). Recommended age: 8 to 12. Duration: one and a half to two hours. 2.00/student, based on 20 students. Possible extension: knowledge of the forestry vocabulary, recognition of leaves, history of World War I, etc. |
